Keybed Directly to Raspberry Pi?

Hello,

I have a keybed I'd like to repurpose for samplerbox and put it all in a nice enclosure.

Has anyone wired it one up to the pi directly via it's pins or something and had a matrix scanning utility within samplerbox itself? (with octave up and down functions toboot)

Or am I better off making a separate controller section that's arduino/tinsy based and just connect it like any old midi device?
